Will you go nude in the name of art?

Tunick

Would you be prepared to go naked for art? It’s a proposition that is proving surprisingly popular.

Artist Spencer Tunick is helping The Lowry mark its 10th anniversary by creating an installation made entirely of naked people across eight locations in Manchester and Salford.

1000 volunteers will be taken via a caravan of heated buses to eight locations over the weekend of 1 / 2 May and asked pose naked while Tunick creates photographic and film work. The results will then be shown at The Lowry from 12 June to 26 September as part of the exhibition Everyday People.

New York-based Tunick has previously created nude installations in a number of cities, including Sydney, Montreal, Santiago and Barcelona. His Salford and Manchester work will draw inspiration from the distinctive visual style of LS Lowry’s paintings.

We hear that The Lowry has already received a huge amount of interest from people wanting to take part. If you would like to be involved, you can register now on The Lowry website.
